Rs. 399 Plan
Airtel’s latest prepaid plan is offering 84GB data and unlimited local and STD calls with 84 days validity for Rs. 399 only. The data usage in this plan is limited to 1GB per day. Also, the phone calls are capped at 1,000 minutes per week. This means if you consume more than 1,000 minutes of calling before the weekend, you’ll be charged 10 paise per minute for Airtel to Airtel calls and 30 paise per minute for calling any other network. Also, this prepaid plan is valid only for 4G Sim holders. Having said that, Airtel’s offer to give 84GB data and unlimited calls for 84 days is a good one at Rs. 399. An added benefit is that this will be 4G data. Operators like Idea Cellular and Aircel are offering 3G data at similar rates, so getting 4G data from Airtel is good. Airtel is also offering carry-forward of leftover data from one month to the next. Although that offer is not valid with this plan, the other prepaid, as well as broadband plans from Airtel, have this benefit.
Reliance Jio’s offers
The disruptive telco Reliance Jio has introduced multiple packs that have forced other telcos to slash their prices to retain consumers. Jio also offers a Rs. 399 plan with 84GB data for 84 days. In this plan, Jio is also giving unlimited local and STD calls and unlimited SMS to all operators.
Other offers
Coming to the incumbents, Airtel is not the first one to introduce a plan with bundled data and calls. Vodafone is also offering a ‘Vodafone Campus Survival Kit’ to college students. Under this plan, the students would get 1GB data per day with unlimited calls at Rs. 445 and valid for 84 days. It was only for new subscribers and also offered discount booklets from the likes of Ola and Zomato. In the 3G segment, Idea Cellular offers similar plans at Rs. 453 and Aircel offers at Rs. 348. Being limited to 3G speeds, these offers are less favored compared to Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone.
