Dinner calls are getting increasingly complex, you either shout to gather everyone to the dining room, or ring the dinner bell. However, with this new feature, you will be able to broadcast the message to all users at once – notifying them that it is dinner time. There’s much more to broadcasting messages than just dinner calls. You can let people in your home know you’re heading to work, or let them know that you’re coming back by using the Google Assistant on your phone. Interestingly, Google has also programmed a sound along with the Google Home broadcast messages – if you call for a dinner time message, a playful dinner bell music will play along. The only condition for this to work is that all the devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network and logged in to the same Google account. Moreover, devices should be updated to version 1.26.9393 and have Do Not Disturb turned off. Another interesting bit here is that anyone will be able to send broadcasts if they are near your Google Home as this feature is not bound by a voice match.
How To Broadcast on Google Home:
Trigger your Google Assistant by saying OK Google Say ‘OK Google! Broadcast {your message}’ The message will be broadcast to all the connected Google Home devices.
Interestingly, the word ‘broadcast’ too, is not fixed. You can use the words ‘announce’, ‘shout’ or ‘tell’ too. Google wants to make it as natural as possible. As of now this feature is limited to the users using the English language in U.S., Australia, Canada and the U.K. Support for more languages and countries will be coming soon.
