Camera and Internal Storage

The Intex offering has a pretty standard and acceptable imaging hardware as it comes equipped with an 8 MP main camera sensor teamed up with auto focus and LED flash for better low light photography. In our initial hands-on with the Aqua Power, the rear snapper has performed pretty well in low light conditions capturing enough details. However, the 2 MP front facing selfie shooter for making video calls and for clicking self portrait shots appeared to be incapable of handling low light conditions, but it is acceptable considering the price of the device. In terms of storage, the Intex Aqua Power has 8 GB internal storage capacity that can be expanded externally up to 32 GB by means of a micro SD card. Of this default memory capacity, 1.14 GB is meant for applications and 5 GB is user accessible. Furthermore, there is support for installing applications on the micro SD card that is pretty good.

Processor and Battery

The smartphone employs a 1.4 GHz octa core MediaTek MT6592M processor that is commonly used in the affordable octa core smartphones. This chipset gets coupled with a moderate 1 GB RAM that should be capable of rendering a decent performance considering the pricing of the smartphone. The battery on the smartphone is attractive at 4,000 mAh and we can expect this battery to last for two days without much difficulty. Moreover, this large battery adds sense to the name of the device and makes it one of the few smartphones with best battery life in this price bracket.

Display and Features

The Aqua Power comes with a 5 inch IPS display that carries a FWVGA screen resolution of 854×480 pixels. In our hands-on, the screen appeared to perform pretty well with good viewing angles when viewed in from any angle. We can say the screen is pretty decent for the pricing that the device asks for. Intex Aqua Power is fueled by Android 4.4 KitKat operating system and it packs connectivity aspects such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G and USB OTG. Also, there is a pedometer and support for GPS.

Comparison

The Intex Aqua Power will definitely be a challenger to the other smartphones with heavy batteries under their hood including Lava Iris Fuel 50, Micromax Canvas Power A96, Spice Stellar 518 and Celkon Millennium Power Q3000 to mention a few.

Price and Conclusion

On the whole, the Intex Aqua Power appears to be a very decent smartphone for its pricing of Rs 8,444. It takes advantage of its huge battery that does not add too much to the weight of the device making it usable and a great display in its class. It also comes with a responsive UI and it is capable of handling graphic rich games with its graphics engine. This handset would definitely quench the needs of price conscious consumers to own a smartphone with long battery backup without compromising on the other aspects.
