Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge & Xiaomi Mi 5 Camera Software

The camera software on both the phones is very different in comparison to each other. Mi 5 uses the MiUi camera app that looks pretty simple and neat if compared to the Samsung’s camera software. But if you look at the number of modes, Samsung goes way ahead in numbers. As far as usability is concerned, a new user will be happier in using the Xiaomi Mi 5’s camera software as it comes with no non-sense to make it look clumsy. Samsung uses the same old camera UI that we have seen in each of its phone costing Rs. 15K to Rs. 60K.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge vs Xiaomi Mi 5 Camera Performance

The performance of the camera on both these smartphones is really good for their price. You can spot minor differences in the pictures from both the phones in natural light or even in good lighting conditions. But when it comes to low light photography, Galaxy S7 Edge leaves the Mi 5 camera ages behind. The autofocus on S7 Edge is much faster and accurate, that makes it more advanced compared to Mi 5. Mi 5 does a fair job if we look at the details and colours, but the Galaxy S7 Edge leaves no margin for error in this case too. It would not be fair on our part to go into much deeper details comparing both the cameras. One thing worth mentioning is the excellent stability of Mi 5 that works better than the S7 edge in some cases.

Verdict

Overall, photos from both the camera in daylight came out to be great and comparable. We cannot rate any of the camera as bad, because both the cameras are great looking at their price. But we cannot ignore that the low light performance of Galaxy S7 Edge takes over the whole competition. The Xiaomi Mi 5 camera also does a good job, but the Samsung Galaxy S7 has some extra additions in the technology that make it better than the Mi 5.
