Micromax Canvas Unite 4 Pro Physical Overview

The Micromax Canvas Unite 4 Pro comes with a 5 inch IPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. You also get an 8 MP camera on the back and a 5 MP camera on the front. The phone comes with 16 GB internal storage with support for microSD cards. It comes with dual SIM support and a massive 3,900 mAh battery.

The Canvas Unite 4 Pro comes with a fairly minimal design. The metallic finish adds to the looks of the phone while helping it remain smudge free. Overall, it looks decent and feels good in the hands.

Like many phones these days, Micromax is using on-screen navigation buttons in the Canvas Unite 4 Pro.

The volume rocker and the power button are both present on the right side of the phone.

The SIM card slots are placed under the battery cover, so you will have to remove it if you want to change SIM cards.

The microUSB port is placed on the bottom of the phone.

On top, you will find the 3.5 mm audio jack.

On the back, to the left, you find the camera sensor and the LED flash. Just above the Micromax logo, there is a fingerprint sensor.

Towards the bottom on the back, there is a loudspeaker with a little bump below it. This ensures that sound is not muffled when the phone is placed on a desk.

Display

The Micromax Canvas Unite 4 Pro features a 5 inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. It comes with a pixel density of ~294 ppi and color depth of 16M colors. The display on this device is good in terms of color reproduction and sharpness. The viewing angles are not as impressive as they should have been.

Camera Overview

The Micromax Canvas Unite 4 Pro comes with an 8 MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash. It can record videos up to 720p @ 30 FPS. It features geo-tagging as well. On the front, it comes with a 5 MP secondary camera for selfies and video calling.

Gaming Performance

Gaming is something that requires something extra from smartphones to make sure that the performance is not compromised. I installed Dead Trigger 2 on the Canvas Unite 4 Pro and like any other budget phone with a decent configuration, it handled this game with an ease. But as I proceeded further, I noticed few framedrops in the game play. To test it more, I played Modern Combat 5 on this phone, and that was the time when I was clear that heavy gamers should not consider this phone. Heating was normal for a specific time but it got increased after few minutes.

Benchmark Scores

Conclusion

The Micromax Canvas Unite 4 Pro is a very good value for money device at Rs. 7,499. It looks and feels good. The display is of good enough quality at this price, and other specs are quite above average too. The one area of concern is the processor – Spreadtrum is being used in some entry level phones these days, but its performance remains relatively unknown. Addition of a fingerprint sensor at this price comes as a surprise, adding to the pros of the device. Overall, I think Micromax has a good option in this range.
