Display and Processor The Moto G comes with a 4.5 inch screen with a 720p resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top of it. The Micromax Canvas Turbo Mini has a 4.7 inch screen with 720p resolution as well but it misses out of Corning Gorilla Glass 3. So in the longer run, the Moto G might just make a lot more sense than the Canvas Turbo Mini as you surely don’t want to lose your phone to those occasional drops and scratches. Under the hood of the Moto G is a 1.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 processor and it teams up with a 1 GB RAM. The Micromax offering has a 1.3 GHz quad core Mediatek unit ticking under the hood which couples up with a 1GB RAM. My vote goes for the Moto G as Qualcomm chipsets are known to be better performers than the Mediatek ones. Camera and Memory The Moto G has a 5 MP rear camera with a LED flash and it teams up with a 1.3 MP front camera. Expect it to perform good enough for a 5 MP camera. The Turbo Mini gets an 8 MP rear camera and a 5 MP camera front camera. The Turbo Mini might just perform equally well as the Moto G in the rear camera department but wins by a wide margin in the front camera arena. The Moto G gets two memory options: 8 GB and 16 GB with no expandable storage. The Turbo Mini gets 4 GB of internal storage which can be expanded by another 32 GB. To me, the Moto G with 16 GB makes a lot more sense. Battery and Features The Moto G gets a 2,070 mAh battery to give it the juice which the company claims will run for 24 hours on a single charge with heavy to moderate usage whereas the Turbo Mini gets a 1,800 mAh battery which is rated to give a talk time of up to 6 hours and 30 minutes. and the Moto G surges ahead with a better battery back up. Moto G runs on Android 4.3 with a planned upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat whereas the Turbo Mini runs on Android 4.2 and might get Android 4.4 as well. But the Motorola offering runs on stock Android and the same fares better. Conclusion Both the phones are decent performers but the Moto G emerges as a clear winner courtesy of the value for money proposition it brings to the table coupled with raw processing power and a better build quality. Moto G has stock Android whereas Turbo Mini has a lot of malware. Motorola has done everything right to make the smartphone a bang for every buck you spend on it.
