The Nokia 8 got the Android 8.1 Oreo update last month and now, the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 are also beginning to get this update. The Android 8.1 Oreo update is a minor update to Android 8.0 Oreo but HMD Global is taking the latest updates promise quite seriously. Nokia Power User has reported about the Android 8.1 Oreo update is rolling out on the Nokia 5 in selected countries such as India, Tunisia, and Indonesia. The Nokia 6 is getting the new update on in India currently.

The Android 8.1 Oreo update is about 866 MB on Nokia 5 while on Nokia 6, the update is about 933 MB. The update is only available to download over Wi-Fi and not on cellular data. To get the new update, keep on checking for the update in Settings > System updates. The new update to the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 brings battery saving optimizations, revamped power menu, new settings page and battery indicator for Bluetooth accessories. The new update also brings the March security update to the smartphones. There are few core system features and additions in the update like the Network API, Password Autofill, Shared Memory, performance updates, and bug fixes, in addition to a corrected hamburger emoji which corrects the position of the cheese layer.
