The Qualcomm 205 houses a Category 4 LTE modem that can support download speeds up to 150Mbps and upload speeds up to 50Mbps. It comes equipped with 1.1Ghz dual-core CPU and Adreno GPU. Other connectivity options include dual-sim support, VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.1, ANT+, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, GPS, VoWiFi etc. In the multimedia segment, it can support up to 3MP camera on the front and back, HD video streaming, and it can render 480P VGA display running at 60fps. It supports Linux based OS.

Kedar Kondap, vice president, product management, Qualcomm said, “Qualcomm Technologies is committed to the migration of users and networks from 2G, 2.5G, and 3G to 4G. Feature phones are a lifeline in many emerging countries, and the Qualcomm 205 Mobile Platform allows us to bring 4G connectivity and services to the masses with devices at price points never seen before.” It is also worth noting that Qualcomm 205 is pin compatible with architectures designed for Qualcomm Snapdragon 210/212, which will allow manufacturers swap the processor seamlessly. This move is coming at a time when internet adoption in India and South East Asia is growing at a rapid pace. Eyeing on the opportunity, Qualcomm released the processor to power low-cost feature phones and entry-level smartphones, thus, bringing high-speed connectivity at an affordable price. It also goes in hand with the Indian government’s vision of Digital India. The processor is available for commercial use starting from today, and you can expect Qualcomm 205 powered devices in Q2 2017.
