The display is sweet 4.7 inches in size with 720 x 1280 pixels spread across it. Yes, there is no full HD resolution as one would expect from a high end device, but Samsung has done a good job with its 720p Super AMOLED panel. The Chipset used is Exynos 5 Octa 5430 with four cortex A15 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and another cluster of 4 Cortex A7 cores at 1.3 Ghz. This is the first Exynos chipset based on 20nm process which means it will be more energy efficient as compared to its predecessors. HPM is enabled and all 8 cores can act simultaneously, if load demands it. The chipset is assisted by 2 GB RAM for efficient multi tasking. There is a 12 MP rear camera which can record 4K videos, but with 32 GB non expandable Storage, you won’t be recording many of those. For selfies and video calling a 2.1 MP front camera is also present.
Software is Android 4.4.4 Kitkat with TouchWiz UI on top. Galaxy Alphas is quite slim at 6.9 mm and weighs only 115 grams. However, this seems to have affected battery squeezed inside. Samsung has used an 1860 mAh battery but 20nm energy efficient chipset is expected to make things better. Other features include Finger print scanner, Heart rate monitor, NFC, Bluetooth LE, 3G, GPS, GLONASS and WiFi. The Galaxy Alpha will come with 4G LTE (Airtel) out of the box in India. The price seems slightly high if you compare it to Samsung Galaxy S5 which is selling for a lesser price and offers MicroSD card slot, bigger battery and better camera.
