Samsung will soon launch a Selfie focused smartphone in India – The Galaxy Grand Prime (SM-G50H) priced at 15,250 INR according to retailer Manish Khatri, a trusted source for smartphone leaks in India.

The new entrant in popular Galaxy Grand series will sport a 5 inch IPS LCD display with not so grand 960 X 540 pixel qHD resolution. The display will be powered by qualcomm budget star Snapdragon 400 cortex A7 quad core clocked at 1.2 GHz (same chipset as Moto G). Chipset also includes 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage, which can be further expanded to 64 GB using MicroSD card support. The chipset will fuel latest Android 4.4 Kitkat on Grand Prime, with TouchWiz customization on top. Imaging hardware includes a basic 8 MP rear shooter with LED Flash, capable of recording 1080p full HD videos and a 5 MP front shooter for basic video calling. Since this is a Selfie centric smartphone, you can expect some handy software coupled with the front snapper. Samsung is also expected to provide a wide angle lens for the selfie cam, but we will know for sure only after official release. Galaxy Grand Prime is quite slim at 8.6 mm and weighs a moderate 156 grams. Samsung has squeezed in a 2600 mAh battery inside, which seems decent enough considering the display and chipset inside. Other features include 3G HSPA+21Mbps, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS+GLONASS and dual SIM connectivity. Other Selfie centric smartphones that surfaced in India include Sony Xperia C3 and Lava Iris X5. Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime takes the middle ground between the two and is expected to officially retail from this week itself.
