Samsung Z features a 4.8 inch 720p HD Display, amounting to 306 pixels per inches. It’s no surprise that Samsung is sticking to Super AMOLED display panel for its Tizen smartphone as well. Tizen OS 2.3 will be handled by a 2.3 GHz quad core processor, backed by 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage. MicroSD expansion up to 64 GB is also an option. Imaging hardware includes an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2.1 MP front camera for selfies. There is a capacious 2600 mAh removable battery inside to keep things running.

Other features include 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and GLONASS. It’s too late for Samsung to step in the OS game with Android and iOS ruthlessly dominating the market. Samsung has been nurturing its separate set of app ecosystem for several years on all its Galaxy devices and this will benefit Samsung to an extent. Samsung is facing major threat from Chinese manufacturers and local players who are offering innovative, high performance smartphone at very low prices. Samsung could use it Tizen OS phones to compete in budget android market and use its brand value to increase Tizen market share in markets like India. Samsung Z however won’t be a budget Tizen device.
