Xiaomi recently launched the much anticipated Matte Black color variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 in India. Here we take a look at the device. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes in three variants i.e. 2GB /3G B/ 4GB RAM variants. The device features a 5.5 inch full HD display, with a pixel density of ~401 PPI and a screen-to-body ratio of 72.7%. The device comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 on top.

The Redmi Note 4 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor clubbed with Adreno 506 GPU. Its variants include 2GB / 32GB, 3GB / 64GB and 4GB / 64GB. Internal storage can be expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card. Coming to the camera department, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes with a 13 MP primary camera with phase detection autofocus, dual-LED flash and f/2.0 aperture. On the front, the device sports a 5 MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture.

So, the smartphone is indeed packed with a lot of features, but does the new Matte Black color really look good? We recently got our hands on the all new Matte Black variant and it’s really impressive.

Strength and weakness

The Matte Black color gives a distinctive look and comes with great finishing. This type of look and feel can only be seen in high-end smartphones. The matte finish on it is really great and can be compared to what you can have in iPhones. But, it can easily get hold of your fingerprints if hands are sweaty. You might not experience this in the Golden variant as the brighter color does not show a lot of fingerprints, plus it has a shiny back panel, which doesn’t allow fingerprints to stay.

What gives it a premium look?

The build and finish is that good, that it feels firm to hold and doesn’t slip from your hands. Paint used in the back panel is of premium quality and can be trusted for a long term. I tried to scratch the back panel with a Swiss knife and it took a little effort on my hand to push and scratch the back. Hence, the paint and quality was proved to be of great quality.

The three shades at back

If we talk about the total area at the back, we see it’s divided in three parts. Top and bottom are separated from the middle area by antenna bands. Top and bottom are plastic material, which is tried at best to mix up with the metallic finish, but it’s evident enough to be in a different shade. Antenna bands are given chrome look, which is really adding on to the black color as a whole.

Hikes up the feel

You can choose the default High Life theme to make the phone look even better with its display turned on. We have not seen such color and finish from any of the Xiaomi’s phones except the Golden shine finish and this one is really a better pick in its price segment.

Black being an example for strength and elegancy is without a doubt a good color to choose. The Matte Black Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is definitely a good choice. However, color preferences depend upon the one who has to use the phone. If you think that this type of finish and color will go with your expectation, then indeed you can go for it.
