WhatsApp already ended service for some Blackberry and Nokia phones back in 2016 and in 2017, it stopped service for some Android, Windows, and iPhones running on older versions of their operating systems. Now, in 2019 it is ending service for all Windows phones and also some iPhones and Android phones.
WhatsApp will not work on these phones
According to the official blog, WhatsApp will stop working for all Windows phones after December 31, 2019. It means those who still use Nokia Lumia and other phones that run on Windows OS will not be able to use WhatsApp after December 31. Moreover, WhatsApp will also stop working on all Android phones running on v2.3.7 & older and iPhones running on iOS 7 and older versions after February 1, 2020. The company also announced that these older versions of Android and iOS phones will also not be able to create new accounts and re-verify existing accounts after February 1, 2020.
Why will WhatsApp stop working?
WhatsApp is stopping service for phones running older Android and iOS versions because these older versions don’t offer the capabilities it requires to expand the messenger’s features. To be noted, WhatsApp will not instantly stop working on these phones but it will not receive any further updates and eventually end the service.

WhatsApp also listed the operating systems that it will keep supporting. It will also keep running on select phones with KaiOS 2.5.1+ OS, which includes JioPhone and JioPhone 2.
