Before Xiaomi announces anything officially on this, there are already rumors suggesting that the Mi CC9 series would be introduced globally as the Mi A3 series. Moreover, some latest leaks from certification at FCC and Singapore’s IMDA confirm the same.
Mi A3 Leaks
The leak reveals a new Xiaomi phone with Android One program and triple rear cameras. It also doesn’t show any fingerprint sensor on the back which hints at an in-display fingerprint sensor. Furthermore, the codename of this device matches with the Mi CC9e.
Mi CC9 will become the Mi A3
Xiaomi unveiled another midrange phone series in China the Mi CC9 series. Currently, there are two smartphones in this series – Mi CC9 and Mi CC9e. Both the phones have triple rear cameras with a 48MP camera, and a premium design will glass back and AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The document also reveals that this phone will have a 48-megapixel primary camera in its triple camera setup at the rear. So, we expect the Mi CC9 could become the Mi A3 as it is the high-end phone between the two.
Mi CC9e will become the Mi A3 Lite
The document doesn’t reveal any other detail of the phone, however, it is expected that Xiaomi will launch the Mi CC9e as Mi A3 Lite. The Mi CC9e is the Lite version of the Mi CC9 that has certain compromises.
Only Mi A3 will be launched in India
This also makes sense as last year Xiaomi launched Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite in global markets. So, just like last year, Xiaomi might offer two variants of the device – Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite. However, India may probably get only the Mi A3, just like only Mi A2 was launched here.
Mi A3 Specs and Price in India
The Mi A3 will sport a 6.39-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It will sport in-display fingerprint scanner as well. Under the hood, it will get Snapdragon 710 processor with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage.
The Mi A3 will get a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.79 aperture, an 8MP 118° ultra-wide angle lens with f/2.2 aperture, and a 2MP depth sensor in the triple camera set up. It will also get a 32MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The Android One smartphone will run the stock Android 9 Pie. Connectivity features include 3.5mm audio jack, Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5, NFC, and USB Type-C. The handset will pack a 4030mAh battery with QC 4.0 charging support and will come with an 18W fast charger in the box.
Mi A3 Price, Availability
There are chances that Xiaomi could price it in between Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi K20. Since the Redmi K20 expected to start around Rs 18,000 in India and the Redmi Note 7 Pro is priced at Rs. 14,000. So, Xiaomi Mi A3 price in India may start at Rs 16,999. Since Mi A2 arrived in India in the month of August last year. So we expect the same timeline for the availability if Mi A3 in India.
