The Redmi Note series from Xiaomi is the second most popular series after the company’s budget Redmi series. The Redmi Note will succeed the Redmi Note 4 that was launched in January last year. The Redmi Note 4 was one of the most popular devices of 2017 in India and Xiaomi had claimed that it sold over 5 million units of Redmi Note 4 in 6 months. Earlier, there were some reports that Xiaomi is not going to launch the Redmi Note 5 and the Redmi 5 Plus will be the company’s budget offering. Now, a new report has surfaced that has revealed that Xiaomi is internally testing the Redmi Note 5 and the device will be launched in the second quarter of 2018.
The reports have also revealed that the device in testing is the Redmi Note 5 and it will be priced higher than its predecessor. It is expected to be priced at CNY 1,599, roughly translated to Rs. 15,650 for the base variant. The report reveals that the device will feature an 18:9 display and it will be powered by Qualcomm upcoming Snapdragon 632 processor.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Specifications
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is expected to feature a 5.99 inch full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is expecting to run on the latest MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1 Nougat. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor and come in two variants – 3GB RAM / 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM / 64GB internal storage. The Redmi Note 5 is expected to come with a dual camera setup, as the Snapdragon 632 comes with Spectra 160 ISP, which is optimised for dual camera setups. On the front, it is expected to come with a 5MP secondary camera. The device may come with a 4,000mAh battery.
